SLOThrower Courses

The Heilmann Regional Disc Golf Course
Heilmann was the first 18 hole disc golf course in SLO County. Located in Atascadero (15 miles North of San Luis Obispo on Hwy 101) at about 1300 feet in elevation, Heilmann's inland location shelters it from the ocean fog and wind. The course winds its way through a dense oak and weeping willow forest. Most of the baskets are positioned on slopes or drop-offs. Weather is cool in the fall, winter, and spring (highs in the 70's), but it will routinely reach the 100 mark throughout the summer. There aren't any water hazards, but there's a little bit of OB over the chain-link fencing surrounding the park.

The course is slightly above moderate on distance and virtually every hole is reachable (depending on configuration)... but the lines are narrow and the trees are sticky, so Double-Bogeys tend to find their way into your game.

The park is not only beautiful; it also contains tennis courts, basketball courts, scattered BBQ pits, and horseshoe pits.

OPEN CONTAINERS ARE ALLOWED... BYOB!

Laguna Lake 18 Hole Disc Golf Course
(18 Baskets! Temporary Tees)

Long, short, windy, and grassy, Laguna Lake has it all - truly a course that defines "Risk and Reward..." Featuring tight fairways, technical upshots, technical putts, and O.B.s. Winding along the shores of Laguna Lake, the course plays in and amongst the wooded areas scattered throughout the park.

Hole #1 is located by the lake, near the path, and facing Madonna Road. Hole #10 is by the boat launch and parking area at the end of park road. (After the 550ft. Hole #9).

The park is not only beautiful, but also has a playground, drinking water, a dog park, scattered BBQ pits, hang gliding, fishing, and boating (gas-powered motors and swimming are not allowed).

Sinsheimer Park 9-Hole Disc Golf Course
Sinsheimer: the first Disc Golf Course within SLO city limits!!! Finished in October 2004 as a SLOThrower and PYD original; there are 9 holes, 20 different basket positions (that change frequently!), tee pads, benches, drinking water, baseball, BBQs, horseshoe pits and the YMCA. All the holes are relatively short and each is in close proximity to the next... SO HEADS UP!!! In general, the course is fairly easy compared to most respectable courses, but the routine heavy winds and steep drop-offs near every basket can make for an interesting round.

The beauty of this course lies in its cool temperatures at all hours of the day, in the fact that around three times a week the stadium lights at the softball games shed enough light on the entire course to make for a fun night round (though the park closes at 10pm), and in the fact that Sinsheimer is right in the middle of the best part of SLO. If you want to play a quick round, Sinsheimer is perfect.

BE ADVISED: OPEN CONTAINERS ARE NOT ALLOWED.
